Beware of the dramatic EFENTWELL!

open source video, online video platform, video streaming, video solutions

Another little After Effects test or “the alien abduction light from underneath your door”.
Starting point was to try out some bump mapping technics in AE (which you don’t really see anymore in the clip above). At some point i realized, that the way i did the bump mappings messed up the reaction of the visible lights as well as the shadows. So i played around with ways to achieve the look of visible light and shadows without setting up any actual lights in the scene.

Es Weihnachtet sehr, denn ein Müslüm kommt geflogen.

A friend of ours (flowy.ch) has just released the new Müslüm video. He asked us if we could help him out by animating the introductive shot of the clip and so we did. Above you have the whole clip.

We will update the post with a better quality version of the animation soon.

Group of squares spinning around squares spinning around squares spinning around squares…

open source video, online video platform, video streaming, video solutions

So, this wasn’t about a kick ass design at all, but about trying out some stuff. But in the end I thought “what the heck, add a background and a logo and it’s worth a blog entry.” So here it is, with a background and a logo.

The Goal was to animate all the squares with as few keyframes as possible, which means I had to find some expressions in order to control the movement of all the squares. In the beginning you see a group of squares spinning around a single square all of these are divided in groups of squares spinning around a single square, those groups are then circling a group of squares and so on and so on… then as well when they divide in lines of squares it is done with expressions, means with very few keyframes.
All of that probably sounds kind of boring to a lot of people, but, oh well, what shall i say, there’s a little geek in all of us.

New to EFW!-Blog: to your right there`s a new category called “Motion”, which will contain all the stuff that has something to do with… yeah… moving images (storyboards, shootings, animation etc.).

A big thanks to Andrew Kramer! Wouldn’t have been able to figure out all the expressions without the help of the funniest After Effects specialist out there.
