Mandelbrot Fractal e.214: Sadly, Another Orbituary…
Mandelbrot Fractal Set Trip To e214 HD from teamfresh on Vimeo.
Benoit Mandelbrot, mahematician, dies at age of 85.
Dr. Mandelbrot coined the term “fractal” to refer to a new class of mathematical shapes whose uneven contours could mimic the irregularities found in nature.
Here`s an animation of the classical Mandelbrot-Fractal and the vague description of what this actually is:
The Mandelbrot set is a mathematical set of points in the complex plane, the boundary of which forms a fractal. The Mandelbrot set is the set of complex values of c for which the orbit of 0 under iteration of the complex quadratic polynomial zn+1 = zn2 + c remains bounded. That is, a complex number, c, is in the Mandelbrot set if, when starting with z0 = 0 and applying the iteration repeatedly, the absolute value of znnever exceeds a certain number (that number depends on c) however large n gets. For example, letting c = 1 gives the sequence 0, 1, 2, 5, 26,…, which tends to infinity. As this sequence is unbounded, 1 is not an element of the Mandelbrot set.
Umm, yeah…
The final magnification of the animation is e.214. Want some perspective? a magnification of e.12 would increase the size of a particle to the same as the earths orbit! e.21 would make a particle look the same size as the milky way and e.42 would be equal to the universe. This zoom smashes all of them all away. If you were “actually” travelling into the fractal, your speed would be faster than the speed of light.
Thanks for this, Benoit, hope it`s nice, over there at e.10000.

Here we go again with the 4 Decades of Rock`n`Roll!
Much praise for the book, the ISC Club and us in a very nice post on the Kinki-Blog. Thanks Martina.

Yesterday: WINO @ “Rössli”, Reitschule Berne, 23 of September
Yesterday we went to see WINO @ “Rössli”, Reitschule Berne. The legendary singer and leadguitar player of bands like St.Vitus, the Obsessed, Hidden Hand and lately Shrinebuilder played a beautiful and intimate solo & acoustic gig. We’re looking forward to meet him again when Unhold is the supporting act for Shrinebuilder in november (where, of course, we will support Unhold visually).
Sorry for the crappy quality of the video, it was taken with my cellphone…but at least the sound is ok.
